To run the Framer_Takeoff TM © Tour, after downloading both Excel files above, open only the "F_T_H.XLS" document. It is linked by 'Auto_Open' to "Tour.xls" VBA. After the "F_T_H.XLS" document downloads, you may click "Open." The Framer_Takeoff TM © Tour runs automatically. These are the actual dialog boxes found in Framer_Takeoff TM ©. Please note: Microsoft Excel® 2007 uses the new "Ribbon" replacing the previous standard menu bar used in Excel® 2003 and earlier. To date all Sonoran Software TM, LLC programs use the old standard menu bar or "Custom Menus." All Sonoran Software TM, LLC programs are being upgraded to Excel® 2007, to a new version v E07 -2.0. The above files ("Tour.xls" & "F_T_H.XLS") will run with Excel® 2007. The old usual "Menu" will be replaced by the new "Ribbon." It is not necessary to have the "Custom Menu" loaded to run 'Tour' & 'Help.' Also, the old "Enable Macros" dialog box, which appears when Excel® loads, in versions of Excel® 2003 and earlier, has been replaced. See "Security of Microsoft Excel®," below for enabling macros in Excel® 2007.

Welcome to Framer_Takeoff TM © version 1.2, a "Smart.Solution TM © ". A custom framing estimator which may be used for large multifamily framed complexes, unique custom homes, commercial buildings, the standard track home, and metal stud framing. An estimator may accurately produce material takeoffs and cut lists. The accuracy for each element is precise. Cutoffs are the only waste calculated and many cutoffs, e.g. cripples and jacks are either calculated to be used for the next smaller cripple or jack or added together to the most efficient length of lumber. Materials are estimated to stocked dimensions, not random lengths. Framer_Takeoff TM © rounds up totals, e.g. greater than 12ft and less than 14ft, up to 14 ft. All nails are counted, each, nail by nail and compiled into 50 pound boxes. The database consists of most of the lumber sawn by the Western Wood Products Association saw mill members, e.g. heavy timbers to furring strips, s4s to rough sawn, Hem Fir/Pine to structural Doug Fir, 25 ga. metal studs, Glue Laminated Beams, Micro Laminated Beams/Lumber, treated lumber, Machine Rated Lumber, plywood, siding, Truss Joist products and Simpson Strong Tie products, nails, power actuated loads and pins, bolts, metal stud framing screws, washers and misc. hardware. The database is an inventory for framing practices in the Continental United States, Hawaii, Alaska and Canada. This data base may be expanded by the User. Custom walls and assemblies may be created by the User and are easily calculated for most any material and the assembly may be saved for future use. All the functions of the framing square are included allowing the automatic calculation of all joists, skewed joists, rafters, valley and hip jacks, valleys and hips, stair risers - treads - stringers. Long runs (infinite) of trellis or repetitive framing are easily calculated for most any material. The beams, purlins, 2x's, plywood, nails and hangers are easily calculated for a large panelized commercial roof. The quantities in the formulas calculating the takeoffs are based on carpentry practices found in the IBC (International Building Code). These formulae may be easily modified to reflect other methods. Contact Sonoran Software™, llc, for custom databases and estimating formulae. Framer_Takeoff© is like having a full time estimator on salary with your company. The program makes all the decisions and calculations a human makes while estimating framing. Framer_Takeoff© is very easy to use. An administrative assistant may be easily trained by studying the documentation and via phone support provided by Sonoran Software, llc. Framer_Takeoff© leads the "User" through the estimate and gives many warnings if mistakes are made.
